As you know, treeoflife
is planting a church in the Detroit Metro city of Monroe in SE Michigan.
The first concept of what would become elevate
church came during a time of solitary prayer over two years ago.
In that moment, a vision was conceived in the heart of Lead Pastor Adam
Davis that is only now beginning to take form.
At first, the thought of planting a church in America surprised Adam
so much that he didn’t tell anyone about it for 3 months. Soon, however,
it became evident that the thought was divinely orchestrated and he
began to talk to his wife & then others about the idea of planting
a church in Monroe – a city he’d visited only a handful of times
and in which he knew only one family.
God began to unfold to Adam the dire need for mission minded churches
in the US at this critical hour in history. The cultural landscape has
shifted in a major way & America is now considered a “post-Christian
nation” that requires a Bible-based yet fresh expression of Jesus
to reach the emerging generations.
Adam & Kristen are first and foremost missionaries, devoting their attention in foreign nations for the past 5 years. That missional DNA is exactly what is needed to be effective in what is now the 5th largest mission field in the world. Never has our nation faced such a challenge in reaching people far from God.
God has put the vision in the hearts
of others too. A core team of people have assembled around Adam &
Kristen that are passionate about being part of the mission of God to
share His love with others and believe God wants to do awesome &
even miraculous things in, through, & all around us.
Emily Davis and Justin & Erica Ruess worked with treeoflife
for a few years before deciding to leave everything they knew to relocate
from one side of Michigan to the other in response to the call to start
a church from scratch.
The one family in Monroe Adam & Kristen knew, Dave & Hollie
Behnke, immediately joined the group. With no budget and gathering in
the Davis home, weekly “formation meetings” began. Another native
Monroe family, Adam & Sarah Williams started attending and soon
became part of the core team.
In the upcoming pre-launch phase, a team of 35-50 people will be formed
for the purpose of facilitating a full scale launch within the year,
where we expect 250 people at the first worship experience. With visitors
currently attending the various gatherings elevate church
hosts each month, having just located a cutting edge venue to gather
for worship and with plans to begin regular pre-launch public meetings
soon, the momentum and excitement just keeps building.
Q: Can I give a donation amount other than the suggested $250?
Gifts of any amount are welcomed and appreciated.
Some will give less than the
suggested $250 while others will give more. We recognize
the sacrificial nature of
such a gift and
ask that you cheerfully sow the best seed that you are able.
Q: What is the difference between Revolution and PayPal online giving?
Both online
giving options are highly reputable, easy to use and have the best
security available online. Both allow you to use
credit or debit cards to donate and it
is free for you to do so. The difference is
that PayPal charges us a fee to access your
donation (about 3% of the transaction), and
Revolution does NOT. In addition,
Revolution
is currently offering $25 to anyone who opens a new account with them.
Q: How will the donated
money be used?
The following
areas are where funds raised through this campaign will be allocated:
Securing a meeting place
Outreach and advertising
Basic technology & software needs
Signage and visibility
Children’s ministry resources
Incorporation
and legal fees (as required)
Consulting services
100% of the funds raised will go directly to
the establishing of this church plant.
Resources from this campaign will NOT be redirected
toward another project.
None of the money will go to cover or supplement
staff salaries.
Q: How long does this
campaign run?
The campaign
will run through July 2008 to give anyone who wants to be a part
ample time
to respond. We ask that all gifts be received by the end of July.
Q: Is my donation tax
deductible?
Yes. You
will receive an official giving statement for the calendar year that
will record
your giving to this campaign as well as itemize
any other donations to this ministry
through the year. Give it to your tax adviser
when submitting your 2008 tax return.
Q: Why do you need my address when I give?
Two reasons:
to send your tax deductible giving statement and so we can keep you
updated on the progress of the church plant
into which you are investing.
Q: To whom should my check or money order be made out and sent?
